Nigeria House Project Committee Collaborates With NFF Ahead 2018 FIFA World Cup

Visit to Nigeria Football Federation

The Nigeria House Project Committee has entered into fruitful deliberation with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in order to put up a befitting Nigeria House during the World Cup in Russia in June.

The NFF are the owners of football competition in Nigeria and the hospitality outfit is seeking for ways to showcasing the country’s socio-economic and cultural features through cultural artifacts, cuisine and kitchen for Nigerians who will visit Russia during the 2018 World Cup.

Project Coordinator of the Nigeria House Project, Mohammed Abdullahi while on a visit to the NFF’s General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, weekend in Abuja said, the World Cup as one of the biggest sporting events in the world remains a veritable avenue for Nigeria to showcase its rich cultural heritage.

Abdullahi said the committee was empowered to expose foreigners to the beauty of the country through sporting events. “The purpose for the visit was to open discussion on the possibility of establishing Nigeria House in Russia during the World Cup because the event is one of the biggest sporting fiestas globally due to the number of people it brings together and we do not want to be left out of it. We have come to deliberate with you the owners of the World Cup in Nigeria and let you know that our mandate is purely hospitality. Nigerians will want to show the world who we are and the potentials we have, not only in terms of sports prowess but in areas of our culture, cuisine and human resources; that is where we come in. We shall establish a kitchen for Nigerians who will hit Russia to feel at home away from home. We promise a robust Nigeria House that will be the best experience for Nigerians in the diaspora in the areas of our food, culture, fabrics, display of solid minerals and artifacts."

Abdullahi also said the House in Russia will be a meeting point for business and roundtable talks. "It will also form a point for business match making, where people meet counterparts for business meetings. We are already in touch with the Nigerian embassy and the local chamber of commerce and industry of the host nation to mobilize the business community to come and see what we are showcasing." he said.

The NFF scribe, Dr Sanusi assured the committee of their support adding that the group will work within the stipulated rules set by FIFA. “Anything that can promote Nigeria to the outside world is what we welcome. All that is needed to support you will be provided as long as it does not affect some of our rules or contradicts that of our sponsors so as to avoid breaching our contract with them."
